THANK YOU FOR HELPING MILLIE GET HER LIFESAVING HEART SURGERY!

UPDATE on Millie: 4/20/09 -

Millie is doing great!  Being the fluffy little bundle of energy that she is – her desire to run and play has given her foster family a few tough days during her recuperation. How can she stay quiet while she is mending? She feels so much better that she goes on her daily morning sock hunt as soon as she gets up each morning.  Can’t forget to find your favorite socks to play with!!

Millie is receiving loving care from her foster parents, she has begun to perk up and they find it difficult to keep her from running and jumping for joy.  She greets her foster mom at the door when she comes home from work and loves to eat and play.  Millie’s next check up appointment is in May.

Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to raise more than $2,300.00 !!

All of us at N.O.A.H. will always be grateful to each one of you for your wonderful support with precious Millie.  She really has been saved!

Update on Millie: 4/9/09 -

Millie had her surgery on 4/8/09. We are thrilled to share great news regarding Millie's recovery today. Millie's progress today was excellent! Her drain tube was removed this morning. Her pain medication was reduced and she ate, too. The technicians took her for a short walk this afternoon. She is alert, wagging her tail, and eager to go. The echocardiogram was performed and there is no leaking from the repair. Due to these positive results Millie will be released to go home today. Your continued donations will help N.O.A.H. pay for this life saving operation. Thank you!!!

**Excess funds collected will go to help other N.O.A.H. Dogs and Cats with special needs.

Update: 4/2/09 -

We held our adoption event March 27th and 28th and we are happy to report that most of the puppy mill dogs have new homes! (We have 2 that are up for adoption, 5 being held for the cruelty court case.) There were many excited faces of the many new parents that were taking their newly adopted puppy’s home.

Many thanks go out to those who helped these precious pups! To the hard working NOAH Staff and Volunteers who scooped poop and bathed and groomed very scared and dirty dogs. To the many donors who gave and continue to give to make sure there were enough supplies and continued funding to give each pooch a second chance at a new life! To those 50+ Foster Families who opened their homes to help acclimate them to life outside a cage! To the Veterinary Doctors, Staff and Volunteers who tirelessly did the emergency animal care, dentals and spay/neuters of the 70+ dogs!

It has been an amazing journey these past few months – we have made many new friends – people with the same passion to help these innocent victims in any way they could. There were tears at the beginning and great joy as we saw each dog go to their new home - we can be proud to say that we helped with the Puppy Mill Raid of 2009!!!!!

OH but wait -- it is not over – the PUPPY MILL bill in Olympia still needs our support (see our website for more info) and the Sundberg’s still have their upcoming day in court!

Update: 3/4/09  We’ve received wonderful news today!  We were informed by the Skagit County Prosecutor’s office that the owners of the puppy mill dogs have agreed to forfeit ownership.  Therefore, the court appearance has been cancelled for 3/5/09.

Within the next few days N.O.A.H. should receive official notice that we can begin performing dentals, spaying or neutering, and adopting out the dogs!

Here is the plan…

  • The dogs with the most severe dental issues will be scheduled for surgery and treatment.  They are in pain and need to be taken care of first.
  • Over the next few days, we will be determining which foster parents would like to adopt their dogs and which will be going up for adoption.
  • The dogs going up for adoption will be scheduled for spay/neuter surgery.
  • Once all the dogs are spayed or neutered and the dentals are completed…they will all be available for adoption.  We are anticipating the adoption days to be March 27th and 28th.  (please check this website in case the date needs to be changed.)
  • The dogs are not at N.O.A.H. and will remain in their foster homes until the adoption days.
  • If you are interested in adopting, we will have you fill-out an application.  The applications will be available here on Friday, March 6th. Click here to see instructions for applying and to download application form.
  • Check back here over the next few days for more details.  Thank you!!

Update: 2/26/09 - In Skagit County Superior Court today both Mr. and Mrs. Sundberg plead not guilty to charges of animal cruelty.  They are scheduled to appear again next Thursday, March 5th, at 1:30 p.m. in response to their petition to get the dogs back.  N.O.A.H. staff will be there to make our presence known to show that we are NOT in favor of the Sundberg's getting any of the dogs back.  Court date is cancelled as of 3/4/09.

Update: 2/1/09 -The dogs are doing really well and progressing with their socialization.  There is still no word on if and when they will be available for adoption.

We are so thankful for the support of the community in helping with supplies.  The following is an updated Wish List for items we currently need:

- Paper towels

- Large garbage bags

- Powdered Dishwasher Soap

- Monetary Donations - The medical expenses are adding up and monetary donations are very much needed.

Update: 1/25/09 - The 72 dogs being housed at N.O.A.H. from the puppy mill seizure are doing great and adjusting to N.O.A.H. life.   Volunteers are finishing-up grooming the last few...so they are all feeling great now that they're clean!  They are loving the large suites with comfy beds and heated floors.  A few are figuring out what dog toys are for!  We're working on teaching the rest.  Dozens of volunteers and staff are spending time loving, petting and brushing the dogs.  It's probably the first time in their lives they've had this much human companionship!

Update: 1/22/09 - N.O.A.H. is proud to be helping the Skagit County Sheriff’s Department by housing 72 dogs from the seizure at an alleged puppy mill in Skagit County.  The Sheriff’s Department is currently pursuing a prosecution of the owners.

In the interim, these dogs are NOT available for adoption.  It is estimated that N.O.A.H. will house the dogs for at least 2 weeks and possibly 4 weeks.

Updates will be posted on the status of the dogs on our website as they become available. Please check here as we would like to keep our phone lines clear for regular N.O.A.H. business, as they are manned by volunteers. We are not taking names for a waiting list at this point. Your financial donations will help us to care for these dogs in their time of crisis.
