Background Check

A Washington State Patrol WATCH Background Check is required prior to volunteering at The NOAH Center.

Due to liability reasons, we cannot accept anyone convicted of any violent crimes against people and/or animals, theft, weapons or drug charges. Other criminal convictions will be considered on a case by case basis.

Please fill out the “Volunteer WSP WATCH Background Check Policy” and submit it with your Volunteer Application.

*NOAH requires a copy of your Driver’s License or photo I.D.

If you are unable to upload your WSP Background Check Form or copy of Driver's License, please submit your application without it and our Volunteer Coordinator will be able to assist you with this.

Foster Care Rules & Agreement

* The NOAH Center retains ownership of all animals in our foster care program.
* Foster care animals are not available for adoption until returned to NOAH and all adoptions must be processed through our adoption program. If a foster volunteer or close friend or relative is interested in adopting a foster pet, please let the foster care coordinator know and she/he will provide more information about the process.
* All animals in foster care must receive the highest level of treatment and care.
* Contact the Foster Care Coordinator with any questions or concerns regarding the animals’ care, health, and well-being.
* All foster animals must be isolated from current household pets and not come in contact with any other animals.
* Foster cats, kittens & puppies are not allowed outdoors.
* Adult foster dogs must remain on-leash when outdoors or supervised in a secure off-leash area.
* Foster animals must remain in the care of approved NOAH Foster Volunteers and cannot be released to anyone else without the express consent of a NOAH director or coordinator.
* All foster care animals will be returned to NOAH at any time request of the Foster Care Coordinator.
* Foster Volunteers must provide timely and open communication to NOAH regarding the health and well-being of all foster care animals.
* Any medical care given outside of NOAH will be at the expense of the Foster Volunteer unless prior approval was given.

Please read the following carefully:

Animals placed in foster care are typically those most at risk for contracting illnesses or failing to thrive. Therefore, it is possible that an animal you have fostered may be euthanized if it becomes ill beyond recovery, develops a medical condition deemed untreatable by NOAH, or exhibits behavior issues that make the animal unsuitable for adoptive placement. It is critical that you feel able to cope with the possibility of these outcomes.

I understand that although N.O.A.H. takes reasonable care to screen animals for foster care placement, it makes no guarantees relating to the animals’ health, behavior, or actions. I understand that I receive foster care animals at my own risk and can decline to accept any animal for which N.O.A.H. has asked me to provide care. I acknowledge that N.O.A.H. is not responsible for any property damage or personal injury suffered by me, members of my household (including my own animals), or any third parties during a foster placement, and I assume liability to provide adequate controls to prevent such damage or injury.

I have read and understand the statements above regarding foster care. I certify that all the information contained in this application is true and correct.
