Frequently Asked Questions

What type of cat litter should I use?

We recommend using non-clumping litter for cats under six months of age. Kittens will often eat the litter out of curiosity and the clumping litter can cause intestinal blockages that can result in death if immediate treatment is not provided.  Please use caution when selecting your litter as many also contain chemical additives that can harm your kitten if ingested. We recommend using natural litters with no additives when possible.

Most cats/kittens prefer open litter boxes as they smell better and feel safer to the cat/kitten because they can see their surroundings. After the first several months in your home when your cat starts to feel more comfortable, you could try a more closed option for a litter box, but please be aware that this may cause a regression in litter box usage.
