Frequently Asked Questions

I'm looking for a trainer for my dog.

The NOAH Center strives to meet or exceed the current industry standards for the pets in our care. We also seek to educate our community on how to provide the best possible care for their own pets, which includes training practices.

To quote the BCSPCA’s policy, The NOAH Center “advocates the use of force-free, humane training techniques utilizing evidence-based learning theories which foster trust and build positive human-animal relationships.” And are likewise “opposed to training methods or devices which employ coercion and force. Aversive, punishment-based techniques may alter behavior, but the methods fail to address the underlying cause and, in the case of unwanted behavior, can lead to undue anxiety, fear, distress, pain or injury.”

To further this mission, The NOAH Center offers this list of approved local trainers and websites that provide search functions for other certified trainers, so that pet owners have the resources to find safe, humane and fun training options for their pets!
