Common Questions
Minimum Age Requirements
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Teens 14 or 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering, but once they turn 16 they may volunteer alone. Teens 14-17 can apply to volunteer above.
Adults 18+ should visit our Adult Volunteer page. Youths 8-13 can register for one of our Kid’s Day volunteer opportunities.
Expected Time Commitments
Volunteer shifts are typically between 2-6 hours, depending on the volunteer job position, with 4 hours being the most common. Most volunteers come once per week following a regular schedule (for example: Saturday’s, 8-12; or Wednesdays, 3-6). We ask new volunteers to commit to volunteering for at least 4 months, however we have volunteers who have been with us for 15 years or more! Busy school schedule? That’s okay; we are flexible and can work with your availability.
Membership Fees for Volunteering
All new volunteers are required to enroll in our membership program as a condition of service. The membership fee is a one-time fee of $25 per person and provides one volunteer t-shirt, a name badge, and training. If you are unable to pay the membership fee special accommodations can be made with the Volunteer Coordinator on a case by case basis.
High School Community Service Opportunities
High school students in need of school-required community service hours are welcome to volunteer. All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Anyone 14 or 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering their time, both can apply above. Students will be scheduled according to their service hour requirements. High School students under 18 who are looking to volunteer at The NOAH Center can apply to volunteer above. High School students age 18 can use our Adult Application.
Court-Ordered Community Service Hours
We are not able to offer court-ordered community service hours at this time.
Background Checks
We do not require anyone under 18 to complete a background check.
